Beijing Olympics

This Friday the summer Olympics are starting in Beijing, China. As you might have heard, there was a lot of controversy during the carrying of the torch because of China's treatment of the Tibetans.

I'm not a super political person but the issue of human rights generally and the struggle of the Tibetans specifically, has soured this Olympics for me.

How about you? Do you even watch the Olympics?

We went 4 years ago to Athens to see the Olympics and was one of the best experience in my life.
It is an experience where you are in a stadium with thousand of people form all over the world being so excited about THE SAME THING... SPORTS!
I love the Olympics and I'm very excited to see them in a few days!
And about the problem with China and the Tibetans, I hope we can see in the Olympics actions from other countries that will make China think so they give more freedom for all their citizens, and also to be tolerant in the religious matter.
Love,
RMB

RMB - I've never been to an Olympics but I love your description of being in the stadium with people from all around the world.

Maybe we can go in two years to Vancouver! :)

I usually watch them, but I too have had my view of them somewhat colored this year by the fact that they are in China.
